About Martin Jay Hernandez, MD

Dr. Hernandez completed three degrees from the University of Arizona: A Bachelor’s in Cultural Anthropology, a Masters in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health and a Doctor of Medicine.

He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. In 2003, he was the recipient of the Brazie Award for outstanding second year resident in Arizona. In 2004, he received the Grobe Award for outstanding third year resident in Arizona and also served as chief resident for his class.

After residency, Dr. Hernandez was in private practice for 11 years. He has been voted Top Doctor in Family Medicine by Phoenix Magazine eight times in 2006, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. He also served as Ambulatory Faculty Physician for St. Joseph Family Medicine Program 2015 to 2017. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Hernandez is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Hernandez is dedicated to helping patients improve their overall health and wellness.

His specialty is using Lifestyle Medicine to prevent and reverse lifestyle related disease including diabetes and obesity both in men and women.

In his free time, Dr. Hernandez spends his time with his wife and three children. He stays active with triathlons and basketball.
